Reality Defender is a US-based cybersecurity startup, founded in 2021, that develops a detection platform for identifying AI-generated audio, video, and images. Its platform is oriented toward enterprise and government use.
Overview
The Reality Defender detection platform analyzes media to identify AI-generated audio, video, and images. Reported customers include financial institutions using the platform for fraud detection, government agencies, and media organizations. The company is among a small number of deepfake detectors marketed to enterprise customers.
Reality Defender's approach is detection after content has been created, in contrast to provenance approaches such as C2PA and SynthID, which label content at the time of generation. These two approaches address synthetic-media identification at different points: provenance at generation time and detection after the fact.
