SenseTime

low confidence · updated 2026-09-11

Chinese AI company named in Anthropic's September 2026 threat intelligence report as running an illicit distillation pipeline built on transcripts of user–Claude exchanges purchased from third-party data vendors, and as using Claude to write the pipeline and monitor its training runs.

SenseTime is a Chinese AI company. Its model line, funding, compute position and product portfolio are not established here; the only sourced activity is the distillation finding below.

Distillation findings

Anthropic's September 10, 2026 threat intelligence report designates the campaign GTG-16012 and places it in a category distinct from the direct-extraction campaigns it attributes to Alibaba, Moonshot AI and DeepSeek. SenseTime's "distillation pipeline included transcripts of user exchanges with Claude purchased from third-party data vendors" — exchanges "harvested from users who accessed Claude through intermediaries, like third-party applications or routing services, which logged the transcripts and sold them." SenseTime is also reported to have used Claude "to write the distillation pipeline and to launch and monitor training runs" (Detecting and countering misuse of AI: September 2026 (Anthropic threat intelligence report)). No exchange volume or account count is given for this campaign.

The report presents SenseTime alongside MiniMax as illustrating a secondary market: proxy networks that both supply Claude access in unsupported regions and save exchanges in order to sell them onward. See Adversarial Distillation.

SenseTime is not among the six firms named in the September 8, 2026 NSA/CISA/FBI joint advisory AA26-251A (Joint Cybersecurity Advisory AA26-251A: China-Based AI Companies Conducting Industrial-Scale Distillation Campaigns (NSA/CISA/FBI, September 2026)).
